View Full Version : Why can't I RIP sopranos second season disk 4?

I tried to rip/encode Sopranos season 2 disk 4 using smartripper/DVD2AVI/CCE etc and when I pull the material into DVDMaestro I have a 2 second time difference between the audio and video. This happens someplace after the first episode, as episode 1 plays in sync. Everything after that is off.

I tried to rip the disk using VSTRIP, re-encoded it, and again, still the time offset and hence the audio sync problem.

Does anyone know how I can fix this problem? I've ripped all the other Sopranos disks without any problems. This one is driving me nuts.

You may want to use smartripper to isolate which VOB cels are used for each episode, then rip each episode individually so you get 4 (?) seperate vobs, one for each ep. Then if you find one that has out of sync audio, you can manually correct it by tweaking the audio track or adding some black or trimming the video source.

I'll give that a try now. I've got a few other ideas, like using SR to DEMUX the audio instead of DVD2AVI, and maybe trying a different audio stream. Looks like there's a AC3 6 channel (which I normally use), but also a AC3 2 channel (english). Might give that one a try.

I'm surprised that I didn't find any other posts on this particular problem. Specifically this disk in the series. Am I the only one that tried to back this disk up using this method? Strange.
