I was used to the old and trusted BeSweet plus GUI with my profile settings on VBR (64/256) as was advocated in guidelines. With the
new stuff (1.4b5) the transcode AC3 5.1/MP3 sounds suddenly really soft. It's not a problem as the 128 ABR settings from DSPGuru are
fine, I'm just wondering if it has anything to do with the -3db LFE to LR in Azid. Thx for any response.

BTW I've looked for the answer but couldn't find any, so excuse me if I overlooked something

we would need all the commandlines that were involved.
btw, if there's a profile you like and enjoy, you don't need to replace it with anything :).

ps,
is the issue also exists in v1.3 and not exist in v1.2 ?
(that would mean that you don't like the result of lame v3.92 comparing to lame v3.91)

Commandlines as per attached web page.
As said VBR was strongly recommended in Doom9 guides resulting in:
a) smaller audio file size (checked) and b) better quality (don't
know, maybe my ears are getting old). FYI I used v.1.11 but thought it was time to upgrade. According to your info my question would be
"is the Lame v3.92 totally responsible for a reduction in db of
around 50% using VBR, or are there other reasons possible"
