How to tell Mpeg1 from Mpeg2?

OK I downloaded some files that are .mpg now what's the trick to knowing if they are 1 or 2?

In TMPG, go to File -> MPEG Tools and click Demultiplex, then enter the file and it will show you detailed informations about it in the window.
