video to component images

Anyone know of a way to decompose a video into its' component images. That is, all 30 images(or whatever the framerate happens to be) that make up each second, each 1600 images per minute, each 108,000 images per hour. Yes, I realize this will create gigs worth of images. I just wish to know if it is possible, and how to do it.

get Virtual dub (in download section) save image sequence ( under file) select first frame and last frame and let it run. it does save the images in .bmp format so it will fill up your HDD if you select a too big frame range.
