Thank you, slk001 & TRILIGHT for that hint to ADVDInfo.EXE. That solved a mystery for me.
I kept using APPLE DVD-R with an A03 - they all play perfectly on those stand-allones which accept DVD-R's at all.
But there was one package (they sell them @ 33 € per 5 discs) that would only work on some of my friend's players.
Now I found out:
Out of 10 tested APPLES there is NONE from Pioneer. Most of them are MXL, some are TDK, those coasters are Verbatims.
Sorry - but at least here in Germany that seems to put an end on the "APPLE are relabled Pioneer"-saga ;-(
Anyhow - I will carry on with Apple as they are the cheapest around here.
