Anyone tried Doom9's latest guide & successfully made a 5.1 audio CD? If so, how much music did you get on the CD?

650mb=74mins :).

But...I tried making the 5.1 AC3 wav file, and for a 2 hour music DVD, the file was nearly 4GB.

A 2 channel standard audio CD (L+R)is 74 minutes for 650MB.

So shouldn't a 5.1 (in effect 6 channels) equate to 1/3 of this i.e.
about 25 minutes?

Here it is:
I followed Doom9's guide for creating audio DD 5.1 CDs.
I see the log states "Dolby Surround Compatible", I selected the AC3-WAV option in AC3 machine.

I'm trying to create a dolby digital audio cd using AC3Machine. The guide at Doom9 says to use the AC3-WAV channel mode to create an AC3 Wav file that can be burned as a regular cd. But when I start the enocding process, the BeSweet window pops up briefly and closes and nothing else happens. But when i change the channel mode to 5.1, stereo, or surround it works. Can anyone tell me how to make get the the AC3-WAV to work?

Now just over 1 GB (down from 3.7) for a 2 hour music DVD rip...
Which is just as you said it should be...thanks.

How is it done? I want to get individual songs into seperate tracks, but can't work out how to play the file on the computer to know where to cut....

DSPguru

@johnvick
you can cut your wav file with BeSplit (http://BeSplit.doom9.org), or cut your source AC3 files with it prior to encoding.
you could also extract the ac3 file from the dd-wav with BeSplit.
download it, and read the help files.

btw, although you reported correct filesize, something is wrong with the printing status :

@debi
pay attention that BeSweet v1.4bX is an upgrade to v1.3, so you first need to download v1.3 and then replace the new files from v1.4b.

So i've downloaded BeSweet 1.3 and 1.4b4. Then i copied all the new files from 1.4b4 including the BeSweet.exe to the folder where i have 1.3 saved. When i tried to encoded the ac3 it worked but this time the sound was all noise. I don't understand what i'm doing wrong.

You need this file in the ac3 machine folder as well.

OK Besplit will do the job nicely, but any way to listen to a DD WAV file on the computer? PowerDVD won't do it. Nor will any standard WAV file players.

Also I can't get my head round the fact you can get 74 minutes of 6 track audio on a 650 MB CD. Is the DD WAV file really just an AC3 file with a WAV header?

I've tried everything and still doesn't work. I have the ssrc.dll in the ac3machine folder and that didn't work either. I downloaded besweet 1.4b5 and that didn't workl. I get a wav file that just plays noise. When i burn it onto a cd and play it in my dvd player, i hear nothing.

If your sound card can't pass the digital signal from CD without molesting it then do as I did. You will need to run an SPDIF/Digital cable from CD/DVD drive straight to your external amp. This is the only solution I could find for listening to DTS audio CDs from the PC. Hope it helps.

Do dolby digital audio cd's work in standalone dvd players? I have my dvd player hooked up to my dolby digtal home theatre reciever but when i tried the cd i made, i don't get any sound. I just assumed that they would work on standalone dvd players. Or do they only play on PC's?

I thought after you created the ddwave file you could burn to a disk and player via standalone dvd player.
I'm having the identical probs as " Debi "

Maybe i was mistaken!!

something like that..

.

Is that true: When extracting a DivX-AVI including AC3 stream with Nandub using Save Wav... I get a clean DD-Wav ?

Because if I want a clean AC3 I have to use BeSplit on the saved Audio. So, thinking reverse, the Saved Wav must be a DD-Wav that can be burned on CD and played with PowerDVD and AC3 compatible Soundcard, right ?

DD-WAV and WAV-AC3 are completely different :).
when processing a WAV-AC3 (extracted by vdub, for instance) you should use '-type ac3', while when processing a DD-WAV (extracted by CDEX, for instance) you should use '-type ddwav'.
