I have an ATI AIW 8500DV and I tried to capture some movies from my video 8 sony camcorder throught Virtual Dub. At the beginning it was impossible because I didn't know I needed a specific WDM wrapper which I eventually downloaded at this address http://shopgeo.virtualave.net/wrapper.zip.
The problem is that even if I get into the capture mode I don't see a clear image at all. It's more toward black and full of noise. Even if I play around with all the settings it doesn't seem to get sharper and colored at all!!!!

Does anybody know what I am supposed to do?

The reason why I'd like to use Vdub instead of MMC 7.6 of ATI, is because MMC doesn't let me go over 704x576 (PAL mode, of course)while I am looking for 720x576 , at least.

hi

try this...

- CaptureSource-> VideoDevice:ATI RAGE THEATER Video CAPTURE
- Video Source -> Video Tuner
- TV tuner properties -> Tuning Mode:TV
- VideoStandards: depends on your country (PAL_B in my case)
- Input1-> Cable
- Video/Data-Format: YUY2 - YUV 4:2:2 interleaved

that's all... or at least should be all

you can forget about all my suggested solutions ;) ...

the only thing you have to do is:

!!OPEN YOUR TV-APPLICATION FOR A SHORT TIME BEFORE USING VD!!

... nothing else! - and do not forget to close it before running vd ;)
