View Full Version : problem with the encoding of the change cd and title cd pictures???

Hi there.

right....after doing a load of svcds and getting used for most part to how to rip a disc off no problem, I decided to try using the settings etc for it where you can set the 1st cd to choose the change cd picture, as well as the title to pop up for a few seconds from any jpg you specify.

At first I tried using the default pictures that come, then I tried using my own.

Now the first few times I tried, using the sample pics that came with dvd2svcd, it refused to work, and I couldn't figure out why.
Then I tried again sometime later, and they worked no problem on the discs. So I didn't know at first if it was something to do with the dvd player, discs etc or what.

Anyway, it seemed to be going ok for a few tries using the logo pictures and my own pictures for it, then it stops working again, the movie and everything is fine, it just won't show the change cd picture and the title picture messed up.

It seems to be something to do with the encoding of the pictures or something.

when all the encoding is done, I set it to not delete any files, then I noticed the mpg's that were made on the harddrive if I tried to play them, if they were ok, then they would play fine on windows media player, and if they were corrupt, when they played the mpeg its kind of like an encoded video of all black with red writing on the top, saying Access Violation At etc etc and some numbers.

So sometimes, even without changing a thing in the settings, those 2 small mpg's will encode fine, other times they won't, but the video of the movie itself is never a problem.

anyone any idea why this is happening????

thanks in advance,
Tuck

PS I forgot to mention. I'm encoding these on WinME, P3 1ghz, 128mb ram, using CCE2.5 and dvd2svcd (diff versions up to latest 109build2)

Hello Midnight Tboy,

In my opinion WinME is the most unstable OS I've ever seen. But if you want to stay with it then just copy the successful converted title and changecd MPGs to a safe directory and then use those copies from within the "CD Image" tab.

You know, you can also specify MPG files as a source in the title and changecd picture pulldown boxes not only BMPs. So DVD2SVCD will not try to convert them again because they're already i MPG format and this error should never appear again.

Or youcan try to use VCDEasy and the MPEG Still tools that come with the bundle to create SVCD Stills. Then again use those converted pictures as your source in "CD Image" tab.

Hope that helps,
Gerti

good idea....thanks mate.

the past few times its done it the mpegs haven't worked, but for the svcds that have I'll have to have a look on the cd to see if I can copy off the ok mpgs for the changecd pictures and them use them. or I could just quickly put one together in Adobe Premiere if it comes to it. Never realised or thought that for the change cd in it you could choose an already made mpeg and just assumed it'd have to be a picture.

Yeah, I'd like to take off Me on that machine as its the faster of the 2 I'm using, and the other is on XP and solid as a rock, but its technically not mine and they never listen to a word I say that its buggy as hell, then wonder why it keeps crashing all the time :)

aah well.

cheers mate, will give that a try in the morning. 2:30 in the morning at moment and I have to be up for work in a few hrs :(
