getting the max quality from nandub

I recently got the Mr. Show Season 1-2 DVD, and naturally, I want to try to rip it.

I ripped the Family guy dvd before and was pretty happy with it, but I'd like to go all out with this one.

I'm wondering what tips I might need to know in order to get the max quality from nandub.

Each ep is about 28min, and I'd like to get 140mb rips, but I'm just not getting the best quality I don't think.

Are there any tips or tricks to setting up SBC for this particular thing? Maybe a site I could go to (I've read all the doom9 guides already)?

I don't know Mr. Show-sorry. Are these things Full Screen, like most TV shows? Are they pure interlace, like most TV shows, so you're keeping them at 29.97fps and deinterlacing? What resolution are you using? Offhand, I'd say the easiest thing you could do to improve quality is to put 3/CD, instead of 5/CD.

well, it's released in the US, so it's not PAL, and I don't think it's interlaced. It's full screen, so the resolution I was thinking of going with it 384 x 288. also the framerate for my first attempt was 23.976.

any help you could give you would be great. thanks.

Well, not having seen the DVDs, I'm not sure how much help I can give. Perhaps someone that's worked with them will chime in.

But-384x288 is quite low of a resolution. At that resolution, they'll never look very good. I might suggest 512x384, and again, 3 episodes per CD. And are you sure they're not pure video? Have you looked at the frames to be sure they're not interlaced? I assume you Forced Filmed them in DVD2AVI. Were the results jerky? If they should be kept at 29.97fps, then taking the frame rate down will make them noticeably jerky.

No to instult any1 but have you ever heard of Gordian Knot ?
@ situationist: Try GKnots (Bits/(Stats*Pixel)) Value for the size you´re aiming for. You can enter your 140 MB filesize by hand and have a look at the resolution GKnot suggests you to reach around 60-65% quality.

If the resolution is to low for the quality you want then increase the filesize until it fits. But I agree to manono: Lower the number of episode per CD. 3-4 should be a maximum if you want to get decent quality. Most people I know store only up to 100 min per CD. So for 28 min episodes this would be 3 episodes per CD.
