Hello!
I need help! :)
I want to use GKnot for encoding and at the same time use the subtitler plugin for Virtual Dub. Ist it possible?
Or is there any better way to make burn in subs to a finished DivX?
Or to make them burn in while encoding?
My goal is to make something like a Fansub.
Thanx
:D

Hi-
Yes, you can do it both ways very easily. You can burn in the subs that come with the DVD using VobSub, or you can create SSA subs from those using SubResynch and then use the Subtitler plug-in to burn those in. Doom9 has a guide to VobSub. I don't know about a guide for SubResynch, but if you fool around with it for awhile, you'll get it.
Another way is to use SubRip (the new one) to get SSA subs directly from the DVD, and then use the Subtitler plug-in to burn them into the .avi. But if you've never done the OCR before, that's always fun the first few times.

hmmm... then I would need to reencode, right?
I can't use the filters in Direct Stream Mode.
That is not exactly what I am looking for.
hmmm... I think I have to do it the vobsub way but I do not think it gives me the option that .ssa files would give me.
I want to make something like Fansubs for sure :)
But thanx anyway!

Hi-
Sorry-You talked about encoding with GKnot, so I assumed you were going to reencode. No-there's no way to Direct Stream the video and burn in the subs. All you can do is create soft SSA subs that play with your video. But, for many reasons, many people prefer that way anyway.
