need guide on TMPG

Can someone please guide me step by step on how to reencode with TMPG? I was using ReMPEG, but now I keep getting movies in which the video will kind of freeze for a split second... it's still watchable, but really annoying, anyways, I just wanna make sure whether TMPG is really good... In doom9's guide, he starts off by saying to load the .d2v file (please explain what settings to use on that .d2v file). Help would be greatly appreciated...

Well diogo6, I might be a little obtuse, but I think doom9's DVD2AVI/TMPG guide is the best on the internet. If you have some specific questions, I am sure we will all be glad to help, but I think you should study doom9's guides more carefully.

To get you started: you must have properly installed DVD2AVI and TMPG and THEIR VFP FILES (this is one of the biggest newbie problems). Then load your mpeg-2 streams into DVD2AVI and press F6 to display status window and F5 to test to see whether NTSC, FILM, or HYBRID. Choose that option under VIDEO menu and then choose your track number under AUDIO to create your .wav file (unless you want to use something else like BeSweet and then check None). Then FILE and save project which will create your .wav file (if you chose a track) and .d2v file. The load .d2v into TMPG and choose your settings (use a SVCD template if you don't know what to choose) and encode. Lastly, if you are getting a file error when trying to load your d2v into TMPG, you didn't install the VFP files right......hint,hint ;)

thanks for responding, and i'm sorry, I forgot to say I'll be burning it to dvd-r's. Now to some questions:
1. what .vfp files and where do I find them?

okay, I got the .vfp files, but I really don't know what they do (I'd appreciate help on this). I think I'm doing it all right, but the computer always freezes at the point where I'm supposed to load the tmpg template that ifoedit gave me.

The DVD2AVI vfp must be in the TMPG directory. The TMPG vfp must be installed with the TMPGEncVFP_Install.bat file.
