View Full Version : TMPGEnc settings for DVDMaestro

Hi all,

I've read carefully the DVD guides but haven't found
too much info on the correct settings of the files that
you can import (import assets) in programs like DVD Maestro
and others so the conversion is no longer necessary. I suppose
that these apps will do some kind of conversion to build the
VOB and IFO files.

The situation is as follows: I'm trying to put my DV camera pictures
onto DVDs but for the moment the process is quite long and I'm pretty
sure that there is some way to make it shorter. I have a Dual MP 1,2 GHz, and TMPGEnc runs really smooth and fast on my machine, but I
don't know which are the best settings to get m2v files and ac3
(BTW, I guess this are build through SoftEncoder) to be able to use them in Maestro or Scenarist. It always says says incorrect media type.
I guess there's some requierements that I do not accomplish when I
make the conversion from my DV AVI files to MPEG2 (I use the wizard, but I've also played a little bit with the settings with no good final results)

Any ideas about his, or any guide that can help me to PREPARE the
files correctly?

Thanx and take care you all!!

Ok, Javipas - first things first!

I can give you pages of advice on encoding parameters, but before I DO, I want you to check something with your current files:

Have you made sure to import DE-multiplexed files (often, but not always, these will have the file extension ".m2v"). Maestro will ONLY accept elementary streams (i.e. audio and vieo are imported as separate files).

Also, please read the following thread and get back to me if you have any further questions:

For more specific TMPGEnc discussion/ information, browse the following forum (obviously!)

Thanx for your read suggestions... I hadn't read
all the forums, so I didn't know where the answer could
be. I'll be back with my progress...

Seeya!

before you spen hours reading the forums (useful and educational though this is!), please do check my original point/question - if you've previously been trying to import multiplexed streams, then rectify this by demuxing them and then you might find there is actually nothing wrong with your TMPGEnc encodes, whatsoever.

I'm just trying to get you up and running ASAP...
