Hello,
I'm looking for a tool that can cut the last ten minutes off a one hour MPEG2 file.
Thanks

You can find a TON of useful MPEG cutting utilities HERE (http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/encoding_cutjoin.html).

Thanks for the link Trilight.
I'm trying out VOBSplitter right now but it's not very useful beacuse you have to know the desired file size. And I don't know it. And I don't know how to find it.
Do you have a good way for finding the correct edit point in an MPEG?
thanks

Not sure how most of the tools work. I use Adobe Premiere for all of my video editing so there's a timeline to work with. I don't know if any of those have something similar. Sorry.

Try TMPGEnc - In the MPEG TOOLS section is a CUT/MERGE feature. From memory , you can set the edit-in / edit-out points with a visual preview. That should do the trick...
You can find a trial version here - http://www.tmpgenc.net/

I guess we were posting at the same time.
But as it turns out...TMPGENC outputs an mpv file that is not compliant.
It was not accepted by a couple authoring apps.
I'm off to try some more from the link above...
thanks

BTW, I look forward to editing MPEG-2 in Premiere someday. But I'm not holding my breath...
