View Full Version : New feature request: Extract all videos on disc?

Maybe I am in the minority, but when I rip a DVD using
DVD2SVCD, I usually first rip the movie, then rip many/most of
the special features as well. Since DVD2SVCD doesn't do this
automatically, it means I have to babysit it while ripping
each of the little bonus features separately (and then renaming
the resulting .vobs).
Any chance this could be automated in a future version? Click
a button which would result in all video features being extracted
into the same directory with appropriately named .vobs?
Or is there a simple way to do this within DVD2SVCD that I am
missing?

Use SmartRipper, "Backup" feature. Rip all to C:\ and not to a subdirectory.

I dont think that there is a way to do it in DVD2SVCD. If you follow sandchar99s advice there is a chance that when ripping with Smartripper you can get audio delay after you convert it with D2S.

Thanks Jason28...Hmmm...Well, then I don't think I'll
follow that path. Am I the only one who encounters this
inconvenience? Seems like it would be a pretty simple
thing to add to DVD2SVCD...OH well, I can't complain. What
a great piece of software!

I rip the menus and extas as well, but those I usually do manually without DVD2SVCD, I rely on that for the main movie. Erm.. if you want help with the menus, you could look at my guide (http://www.angelfire.com/anime3/airanime/index.html) (maybe I should just put this in my signature...) anyway I'd be interested in creating a modified version of DVD2SVCD that can handle extras or menus but that isnt an option for obvious reasons (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24056) and I dont have the skill to recreate my own version of D2S at least at this point (taking programming class next year.. but by then everyone'll have a DVD+R anyway e.e). Anyway hope that helps a bit.

That is only if you use SmartRipper to rip and decrypt the main PGC (and only sometimes).
If you use SmartRipper to backup the entire disc, you can use DVD2SVCD to rip the ifo/vobs again, if you choose to or need to, to another folder. Although in most cases that would be unnecessary and you will most likely find no audio delay.

@sandchar99
I see what you are saying now. I misunderstood your post. This is a very good idea. I will have to keep this in mind when I want to back up a DVD. Thanks man :)
