How do you make DVD2SVCD to cut what you want? for example at 840mb.
This is what I've tried:
On the Bitrate Menu, I change the CD size to 840. But the result mpeg file is the same as if I did with 800.

Doesn't sound like an advanced question to me..
Did you set 840 in all availible cd size fields in the bitrate tab? What exactly did you do?

How many discs was the encode?
Did you change the setting using recover or from the start?
If it was a one disc encode the video length and bitrate may not have been enough to fill the disc.
If you used recover and then changed the size you need to manually edit the d2s file to change cd sizes if you didn't start out asking for that size.
Remember the final disc image size will be about 6mb's larger then asked for so make sure you keep this in mind. If you really wanted a final image of 840 make sure to set the cd size to 834.

well, originally I paid no attention to this post...
however, I converted a movie that ended up being 2 BIN files, but in realization, if I squeezed and extra 3 min on the first disc, it would only require ONE (80 min) CD-R....
anyway, I went ahead and adjusted my cd-size to 830 or so, and even the time to 84 minutes.... but the end result, as posted above, was the same output mpg files.
in looking at the log, yes, the D2S file needed editting...so, I changed the maxcut point from 795 to 825 or so...
after the process completed, the MPGs were (yet again) the same.
the bbMGEG INI file showed the same 795MB max cut point, so I went back to the D2S file --> it had secretly reset itself at 795 MB....
so, now I am just wondering, what will it take to be able to run recovery, but have it truly cut where you specify?
Does anyone else have an idea towards a solution?
thanks!

Load the recover file first.
Then change the cutpoints on the bitrate tab.
Then edit the d2s file.
Then hit go on recover.
I think that editing the d2s file may no longer be needed, but since I do it all the time as a standard I have never tried it with the newer versions and not editing the d2s file.

Sorry markrb, that wont do it. The cut size is calculated just prior to the video encoding. Close dvd2svcd, then edit the "dvd2svcd project file.d2s" file, change this line:
bbMPEGCDSize=795
to
bbMPEGCDSize=825
Run dvd2svcd, load the recover file, select from muxing and continue. I do the above once a while when running different tests.

oh i can clearly see the error now.
DVD2SVCD must be closed first. Makes wonderful sense!!!
well, as a work around, I manually merged by output MPEGs into TMPG...I then CUT it where i needed it.
I renamed the new cut MPG to bbMPEG...00.mpg and then I ran vcdimager and now have the BIN i needed....
i should have read this post first right!! heheh...luckily i have norton utilities and can salvage my deleted files!
thanks guys
dvd2svcd... would you consider this whole scenario be a BUG?? just wondering.
