View Full Version : 1.0.9B2 creates 16:9 when 4:3 selected?
I just converted the movie. Although I selected 4:3 encode (and the movie is detected as 4:3 by D2S), it came out as 16:9!!!!!!
Anyone, else has the same problem?
If u need I can post any file you guys need to figure out what happened.
Thanks
-Amit

After running couple of test, I finaly found the problem. Here's the problem and see below for the solution.
If you CLICK on the CD image on the conversion TAB to auto detect the DVD in your drive, D2S 1.0.9B2 comes up with the movie length and the Aspect Ratio for you. If the detected movie has Aspect ratio of 4:3 and Click on the DEINTERLACE setting and choose from NO DEINTERLACE to SMARTDEINTERLACE, the Aspect Ratio BOX gets cleared and doesn't show anything. Now if you hit the RIP /RIP AND CONVERT button (I mean the GO button), the default Aspect Ratio at this time is 16:9 and the movie will be encoded at 16:9. If you look at the D2S extension file under the [settings] you will see "SelectedAspectRatio=-1" BUT if before hitting the GO button if you change the Aspect Ratio so that instead of a BLANK BOX, it reads 4:3 than everything works fine and in your D2S file you will see "SelectedAspectRatio=0" which means do a 4:3 encode.
I haven't tried if the movie is detected as 16:9 as I don't have a 16:9 movie at this time.
I hope it will help you guys. Since there are not lot of movies in FULL SCREEN mode i.e. 4:3 this is not a problem for many of you. Also, if you pay attention to Aspect Ratio Box and make sure it says what you want and is not blank, you are safe.
Thanks
-Amit
