Hi Everyone -
I've been lurking around for quite a while and I have to say, this is an amazing site. People really know their stuff. I'm hoping one of you experts out there can help me out.
I've read everything 20 times and search the forums at length. But I still don't get it. Here's the deal: I've been trying for some time to make a DVD-5 backup of "Il Postino". I've removed the angles in the main movie and have been trying to reencode with TMPG. Problem is, there are NTSC pieces of the movie, mainly in the opening and closing credits. Most of the movie is FILM though, or at least that is what DVD2AVI tells me. The whole thing is progressive.
First attempt: following Doom9's instructions, the DVD was showing FILM 95% and progressive, so I turned on "Force Film" and saved the project. The result, after having run through TMPG (using all the Doom9 settings), was a 23.976 m2v file that was choppy in the NTSC sections and out of sync after remuxing with IFOedit.
Second attempt: ran DVD2AVI wiht "None" selected in field operation. So no IVTC. This time, I go a 29.970 NTSC Interlaced m2v that was choppy THROUGHOUT and also out of sync.
HELP! Any guesses what's going wrong? Maybe I don't understand the process properly, but I've read and read on what to do and it's still not working.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!!!
