I've read the dvd2avi guide and really thought it was very usefull. But when I started to try new ways so create my projects I started to wonder thing like...

1 - In the AUDIO menu what do i get if I leave the auto-select option checked?

2 - In Audio->Dolby Digital->Dynamic range Control.... what does it mean?? What's the ideal option??

3 - Is it recommended to to downsample tracks to 44.1 khz in order to get a smaller output file size or it doesn't make any difference??

4 - In Help: What does SIMD technology, Direct Draw Overlay, VFAPI Plug-In means?

Can I get better avi/project changing any of these settins or just leave 'em default???

Thanx for the attention!

Oh I forgot to ask about the VIDEO menu, we have a lot of options there like IDC algorithm, field operation, Color Space and YUV->RGB. What all that means??

1) probably the first audio track there is (if it's not 0x80 selecing the first and selecting auto would give you something else).

2) all the audio options you need are explained.. you don't need the rest.. the programs we're using for audio are superior to what dvd2avi offers.

3) theoretically not, pratically it's a bit different but downsampling is EVIL EVIL EVIL. Don't do it.

4) do you really want to know? you don't need to .. what the guide doesn't explain leave at the default and you'll be all set

all the options in the field operations are explained in the guide... the rest should not bother you (IDCTs and such).
