View Full Version : bbmpeg not splitting

I am using latest version of dvd2svcd, and all goes well untill bbmpeg starts splitting and muxing.
It does the first 795 meg file perfect, starts on the second one, but doesnt split it at the 795 meg limit ???
Because of this the next stage, vxdimager cant make the 2nd cd cause the split file is too big. How can I recover from this, I dont want to try rip whole thing from the start again, and the crash recovery only gives the same error every time.
Can I run bbmpeg on its own then import the files into a svcd imager or something ? Please help.....

Lemme guess, your either using TMPGEnc CQ, or CCE 1 pass VBR to encode your movie?

Yes, thats right, I am using tmpg to code the video, I cant use cce cause my poor old cellerno is not compatible with it, but I have ripped a dozen movies or so now, and not had a problem like this before.
I have now finally ripped it, but it took me all day :(
I had to edit the bbmpeg config files, insert the startup delay in seconds, (After working out that it was actually in seconds!) rip each of the 3 cd's separatley, rename them to the standard file names that dvd2svcd uses, then edit the config for dvd2svcd, and insert 46 into the program process line and it started the authouring stage !
I did read in the readme for dvd2svcd that there was a problem with bbmpeg not splitting in 109 build 1, so I downloaded build 2.
I have now uninstalled everything, and re-installed build 2, do you think this will cure the problem ?
Sorry if I sound thick, but I am not a programmer by any means, so I thought I did pretty well to get it sorted even if it did take me all day hehehe.
As always, your help is appreciated.

No, you're not thick. The problem is that TMPGEnc CQ calculation sometimes fails terribly. But, use recover to load the dvd2svcd project file, then in the encoder tab set the CQ offset value to 90 or 95 go back to the misc. tab and restart it from Video Encoding.

I realize you're the expert here. When I need to do a recover I always save my settings to the (DVD2SVCD.INI) file located at the misc tab. Especially when I need to change the CD size, otherwise it just uses the previous value. Infact the settings can be changed before DVD2SVCD starts that process as long as you save the (DVD2SVCD.INI) file. I hope I'm right. :) Because if not than I'm wrong :(.

OK Doom9 God, many thanx for your suggestions, and they have been noted and will be used in the future. After a 12 or so rips, I suppose I am bound to get one that fails !
But, given that you are a God, and have a machine that can encode, even as slow as tmpg does, in maybe 4 hours or so, I cant run CCE, cause I only have a Celleron 400, and TMPG alone took over 65 hours to code a 131 minute movie, let alone the 10 hours or so to do the audio, and the 4 passes at the test CQ value, so to speak of starting the process from the video encoding stage again was unthinkable for me !
However......... The 75 hours of encoding and maybe, say, 7 hours of my time today to rescue it, even with the dodgy methods I had to use were merely a drop in the ocean, compared to the time that you Gods have spent giving us this program......... Credit to you guys, and still not an advert in sight.........
What can I say....... I bow at your feet oh worthy one :)

That is why I say he must load the Project file first, then change the settings. Done in that order it will use the new settings.

I too get this same problem with CCE 2.5 I've tried to recover twice already, and the problem still exists. 2'nd file is always past the the limited size usually over a gig, and there VCDXbuild can't create a bin file. ;o(

Here is my output file with recovery. I've tried to do a search on the forum couldn't seem to hit the sweet spot. Any ideas?
