It appears that when I capture from a few channels there are lines that run through the screen. I have included an example of a capture I did of seinfeld encoded using the divx 5.02 codec.
VIDEO (http://www.rufuz.com/downloads/test.avi)
I have cable tv but it is not digital.
I originally captured the vid @ 640x480 resolution and I used the MJPEG codec @ 19 quality. The audio was originally cap'd @ 44.100 khz 16 bit stereo. After I was done, I re-encoded the vid using divx 1st pass @ 1000kbs using the deinterlace filter as blend and then i applied a temporal smoother @ a setting of 4 and the smoother filter @ a setting of 500. I also compressed the audio to 44100 khz, 128kbs CBR Stereo w/lame. The end file size was about 168 megs. Im happy with the quality of this method so far, I would still appreciate other suggestions. I don't know if it is possible to get rid of those lines or atleast hide them, once again they only appear on a few channels, the rest are fine.
BTW : Ive got a wintv pci capture card. I can't cap @ a higher resolution without getting a green bar on the bottom, im not sure if thats only w/the format type or what. Im using the drivers from http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/ .
