View Full Version : 16:9 aspect ratio with DVD2SVCD???

I am wondering if there is anyway to create true 16:9 aspect ratio movies with DVD2SVCD. I know I can make it look like 16:9, but it really formats it 4:3 by adding black borders to the actual picture. This screws with me on two levels. When I play the movies I have to set my dvd player to 16:9 (even though I only have a regular 4:3 TV) to make the picture look correct. If I leave it at 4:3 aspect ratio, the picture gets squeezed together (from top and bottom). Secondly, when I play it on my friends 16:9 widescreen tv, the picture gets pretty messed up (black border around the whole picture). So far I have been using TMPGEnc formating with the aspect ratio set to "16:9 Display" and this seems to work fine. When my DVD is set to 4:3 aspect ratio it properly adjusts the picture an presents it in a letterbox (a real letter box, not fake black border). To sum up, since TMPGEnc can format in 16:9 apspect ratio, and DVD2SVCD now also supports TMPGEnc, is there any way of activating this function in DVD2SVCD???? And if not (a plea to the brilliant maker) can this be added to future versions???

Thanks

The feature is there as mrbass pointed out, but be aware that the 16:9 encode as 16:9 causes issues with most stand alone players. Read the Q + A for more info.

Moved to basics as most regular questions belong there.
