I"ve done a lot of encodings with D2S andI"d never had synch problems. I always use the default settings.
The Story:
On Satarday i made the "Moulin-Rouge" (PAL), the .mpg files play fine with WinDVD or MS player but on my Stand alone DVD player the sound is faster than the video!!
I was wondering what was going wrong. I have a cheap DVD SEG 2210s and TV set, no Dolby soround system and i always encode the audio with 120Kb/s. On "Moulin-Rouge" i changed my mind and set the audio to 192Kb/s just for future use...
That"s the only parameter i change to D2S. Sounds crazy...is it possible to cause this asynch problems??....
I start the recovery proccess, on Audio Enconding i set it back to 128Kb/s and start over the whole enconding...
What a surprise!, the movie now is perfectly synch on my DVD player!!
I want the opinion of some experts e.g Markmb, Bach, Mozart...etc..
and anyone who have a/v synch problem with the DVD player, to decrease the audio stream bitrate and post the results...

Some players have A/V sync issues when total max bitrate (audio + video) exceeds a given limit. Sometimes it is the SVCD max rate (2748 kb/s), sometimes a lower value (some reported 2600 or lower for A+V)Maybe it is your case. When raising audio bitrate from 128 to 192 (so, an increase of 64 kb/s), I suggest you make a trial decreasing at the same time your max video bitrate by 64.

I would agree with avdmb try that first. Maybe set your Max Video bitrate to 2475 or so and try again with 192 audio or even better drop it to 2450 and then you can try 224 for testing.

The second thing to try is if you are downsampling the audio don't and if you are do. I remember some old posts about certain players having issues when the audio was downsampled and others that had issues when it wasn't.

I"m more confused now...The value of the Max field on the bitrate tab is the A+V rate, right? If i change only the the audio from 128 to 192Kb/s the total bitrate does not excced the Max value limit (in my case 2530) or not?

No, the bitrate is only the Video-rate.
