View Full Version : Besweet crashing

I am using AVI2SVCD v 1.0.9b2 and Besweet crashes every time. It works great for the DVD2SVCD, but when I try and convert any AVIs, I get a windows exception error. I have checked the WAV file and I can hear it fine. I ran Besweet from the DOS prompt using the same parameters that were used in AVI2SVCD and it crashes so I am sure it is BeSweet.

DSP_G, I noticed that the Maximum Gain found is 0.0 dB. The program seems to run all the way to the end of the conversion (I can see the time running) and crashes at the end. I have a copy of Sound Forge and if you need the wav file I could try cutting it down to a small file and see if it still happens. If it does I could zip it and send it to you for testing purposes if you want.

So my question is, how do I get the conversion from AVI2SVCD not to crash?

a. if there's a logfile - post it.
b. if maximal gain=0db, don't use "-g max".
c. if audio is ac3/mp3 interleaved inside a wav file, fix it first with BeSplit.
d. let me know which process crashed (BeSweet.exe/mpglib.dll/etc'..)

All problem posts belong in basics.

a. The audio log file is 0 bytes
b. I did this and it crashed immediately.
c. I'm not sure how to tell the format. The audio was extracted from an AVI file. However, I ran BeSplit on the extracted wav file using the -ac3 switch, but it came up with tons of errors, so I am guessing it is not ac3 or mp3. I also tried using the -wav switch and BeSweet still crashed.
d. ssrc.dll

Hi kyuuketsuki,

If your audio stream is in mp3 format than there are some problems. What type of audio stream detects DVD2SVCD after loading the AVI in "Conversion" tab? Is it MPA or PCM or what type?

If it is MPA then read this as I've done some DivX that caused the same problems with BeSweet crashing (but the conversion process went on after I've ignored this error):

Hope this helps,
Gerti

Thanks for the info, Gerti67. I actually found a really nice freeware program that converts AVIs to VCDs no matter what the format. I am still curious to what the problem was with the AVI2SVCD though and I will try your solution.

Mike, I emailed you a link to the AVI to MPEG program I am using.

I converted my audio to 44.1 uncompressed audio as gerti suggested and that seemed to fix most of my problems. I have narrowed the crash in BeSweet down to the following switch. -r 23976 12500

*** This causes the crash ***

"C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\BeSweet\BeSweet.exe" -core( -input "C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\Movie\Encoded_audio_1.mp2.wav" -output "C:\PROGRA~1\DVD2SVCD\MOVIE\Encoded_audio_1.mp2" -logfile "C:\PROGRA~1\DVD2SVCD\MOVIE\Encoded_audio_1.log" ) -ota( -g max -r 23976 12500 ) -ssrc( --rate 48000 ) -2lame( -e -b 192 -m s )

*** This does not crash with the -r switch taken out ***

"C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\BeSweet\BeSweet.exe" -core( -input "C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\Movie\Encoded_audio_1.mp2.wav" -output "C:\PROGRA~1\DVD2SVCD\MOVIE\Encoded_audio_1.mp2" -logfile "C:\PROGRA~1\DVD2SVCD\MOVIE\Encoded_audio_1.log" ) -ota( -g max ) -ssrc( --rate 48000 ) -2lame( -e -b 192 -m s )

I finally got it so BeSweet did not crash, and now Tmpg won't convert the video. argh. Anyway, I'm not going to bother with the AVI2SVCD any more. The DVD2SVCD works great, but there are better programs out there for AVI 2 SVCD conversion.

thanks!

I did receive the email regarding the program...

i too am frustrated with the entire AVI2(S)VCD process...
soon enough, we can wish for it to work as hoped...

possibly if everyone would DONATE to DVD2SVCD, it'd get the fire cooking, if you catch my drift.

this program is a gift!!!

it's christmas every day at my house!
