Hi All,
I'm currently deciding what to upgrade my computer with to make it the ultimate multimedia rig. I don't intend to purchase for atleast 2 months, but here is what I have so far
Existing Hardware
2 X 30GB IBA 7200RPM ATA-100 HDD's (to be configured in RAID 0)
19" Hitachi CM715 Monitor
Full Tower Case with 250W P/S
Sony 40X CD
New Hardware
Intel P4 2.4GHz
GIGABYTE GA-8IRXP P4 478 DDR
Pinnacle Studio Deluxe (Anolog & Digital video editing)
Pioneer DVR-A04
512 MB PC-2700 DDR
Matrox Parhelia-512
2 X 19" Hitachi CM715 Monitor
The parts I'm having trouble deciding on are the Pinnacle Studio Deluxe, and the Matrox Parhelia 512.
The only reason I was wanting the Pinnacle Studio Deluxe was because I have an anolog video camera, but want to keep my eventual upgrade to DV open, but the Pinnacle Studio Deluxe is about $800 here in Australia, and a firewire card is about $100. I'm half thinking I should sell my video camera along with my old Matrox Mystique anolog capture/editing card and shell out for a new DV camera.
The main reason I want the Matrox Parhelia-512 is because of it's surround gaming feature. However I can't seem to find how many game developers plan to support this feature. As it really is only going to be worth it if it's supported by the industry.
Any input much appreciated. :)
