hello all!

i finally started getting the hang of this ifoedit / cce stuff. i'm so close, but i have one small problem...

1. ripped the original dvd.
2. demuxed with dvd2avi, got a 6ch ac3 track and a d2v file.
3. compressed the movie with vfapi + cce.
4. remuxed the resulting mpeg2 video + ac3 track in scenarist. it created VTS_04_01 to VTS_04_04.
5. test played the scenarist created vobs. they work fine, the movie plays with the ac3 audio no problem (no menu obviously)
5. i used ifoedit 0.91 to merge the chapter/pgc info from my scenarist ifo into my original ifo, with the new vobs.
6. then i test played the dvd in ifoedit and there is no sound, no matter which audio selection i pick from the menu (dts, 5.1, or 2ch french)
7. i tried it in powerdvd, same thing.

i'm thinking that the dts was stram 0x80 and the ac3 track was 0x81 in the original. i think that 0x81 was the default.

when i re-authored i assume scenarist made my single audio stream (ac3 6ch) into 0x80, which would take the place of the (non-default) dts stream in the original. so the movie probably defaults to 0x81 still which is a null stream. if my theory is correct, shouldn't selecting the DTS track in the audio menu result in 0x80 being selected and the sound should play, correct? but it doesn't. i'm confused and my dvd is ready to go but the sound won't play.

before i merged the ifo / pgc information the scenarist vobs played the sound fine...i'm tempted to just burn those on to dvd, menuless and all :)

any help would be appreciated!

thanks in advance.

okay, after more rigourous searching i found the jdobbs had a similar problem but his thread wasn't specific enough for me.

it did put me on the right track though.

i ended up having to change my only audio stream 0x81 (ifoedit value = 33024) to audio stream 0x80 (ifoedit value - 32768)

now it works perfect!

thanks to all who bothered to read this.
