Is there ANY (commercial or free) mpeg 2 rencoder out there that can preserve the IPB GOP as well as Rempeg 1.52?

It is hard to believe that the authors' of these commercial proggies can't code reliable GOP replication and the freeware rempeg can.

well... rempeg opens vobs.. so it has a clear purpose and one that the mpaa frowns upon. all other programs require some frameserved or avi input... so obviously they don't even know about the gops..

TMPGenc using txt file with GOP information (exported automatically from IfoEdit) just follow the GOP structure to re-encode. The I frame only in fact, to be precise, which is quite enough to preserve the movie quality.

See Doom9 guide on TMPGenc when doing DVDR you will find lot more details

Klona....that feature does not work....

I have tried it and compared the result with the original.....
Not the same GOP at all.....

remux with it and as the frame count is wrong ...you get serious sync errors.

Only way Tmpenc works is when ....the GOP structure is consistent....with no long or short groups.

Humm. Ok. didn't know that. In fact I am right now re encoding my first movie with this method.
So I can bet on sync problems... not good...

So the only way to keep the GOP is Rempeg2 right now ? Which is slow and unreliable according to me.
