Green Blocks (squares) Problem

Hello.

I'm using CCE 2.50, Windows 2000 Pro, AMD 1700+/Epox. The problem: small GREEN squares in the black (or dark) areas of the SVCD (in the movie or in the botom black border).

I'm using min 1200, max default, TS, VBR 3 passes. Otherwise the result is vgood.

Any ideas much appreciated.

What MPEG2 decoder are you using?
I had a similiar problem using the Ligos or the free Fraunhofer decoder from Doom9. Especially on scene changes and at the start of files i had these green blocks. Simply installing WinDVD solved the problem using the ivivideo.ax file for decoding.

Hello.

Not sure what you mean. I rip the DVD (the DVD in question has been ripped with Smartripper) and i use DVD2SVCD, nothing else.

I had these green blocks when looking the MPEG2 files on the PC using the M$ucks mediaplayer. I had the Ligos filter installed and used by MPlayer producing the green blocks. These blocks never appeared on the standalone player. After installing WinDVD these green blocks went away.
Or do you have these blocks in the .d2v file already? Then it is possible that something went wrong in the ripping process. Try ripping again and keep an eye on the broken blocks counter in smartripper.
