I am tring to encode Shaft and when it gets to the TMPGEnc part of the encode i get this error in the window where the movie is suppost to be showing....Avisynth: caught an access violation at 0x048d1d1a attempting to read from 0x050bf086, it also does the same thing when i tried to encode Payback, i am running a Athlon 1800XP with 512megs RAM, 16X DVD, 40gig HD, Windows 2k spk2, using the latest build 1.0.9 build 2,

The error doesnt stop the process i even let one finish and that error is what it displays as the movie...the entire length....so i just cancel the oporation as soon as it comes up...here are the log file....

I also posted about it not creating the second CD image....and that finally worked but you told me to set the:
Frames Pr Spread" -> 80
"Spread" -> 60
Offset CQ value to 90

And i left these values in there with the new dvds...hoping that would fix that problem in the future...could that be whats making this new error?

Hi Nyc0n,

this Avisynth access errors are sometimes hard to get at on some systems/configurations.

Here are a few suggestions gathered together from various threads dealing with Avisynth issues:

1. Please tick the "Add ResampleAudio" Option in "Frameserver" tab as it seems you disabled it.

2. Make sure you have the proper Avisynth version (the one that came with the bundle) installed. To check this create a plain text file with notepad with only the word "version" in it. Then save the file and rename it to "version.avs" for example. Now play the AVS file in MediaPlayer. There should be displayed the following message: "Avisynth 1.0 beta 7d, 23 Feb 2002 ..." - If not then please reinstall the DVD2SVCD bundle.

3. Try a different resize method - sometimes the BicubicResize or the BilinearResize method cures this issue on some movies.

4. Try to re-rip the VOB files with the internal routines to make sure there aren't any errors in there which let Avisynth stumble.

5. You can try to use the new "MPEG2DEC2.DLL" by Tom Barry instead of the "MPEG2DEC.DLL" that is used by default. Just go to "Frameserver" tab and hit the little button with the 3 little points at the end of the row "MPEG2Dec" in the table. Then select the "MPEG2DEC2.DLL" from the file selection dialogue.

6. Try to preview the VOBs with a software player and see if they play correctly.

7. Try to play the "AviSynth_Script_file.avs" in MediaPlayer before encoding to see if it is ok.

8. Try to encode only one/some chapters to see if all is ok.

The log file seems to be ok, only the ResampleAudio is missing - please try with it activated. And I don't believe the changed "Spread" parameters are causing this error.

Hope that helps,
Gerti

I checked on that Add ResampleAudio box and it is checked, but its greyed out....what could that mean? And also i am tring to encode RoadTrip right now just to see if i get the same error...if i do i will try the different resize methods you suggested, and the new dll file....as for the avisynth version, i have only installed the bundle...so it has to be right....are alot of people having trouble with this new build? cause it didnt seem like i was getting this many errors with the 1.0.7 build.....but oh well....

Sorry, I forgot you're using TMPGEnc and not CCE so this option is grayed out as it is only important when using CCE - so don't worry.

Greetings,

well i didnt change any of the settings yet and Roadtrip seems to be working a.k.o., do VOB files corrupt that easy? i will still adjust the settings when RT is done and test it on the previous DVDs....

What happens if you open the bad avisynth script in VirtualDUB?

Nyc0n
29th May 2002, 20:30
hmmmm.....ive never used VirtualDub before....it would probably take more time to figure out how to use it then its worth...unless you can give me a quick rundown....ive read the guide....doesnt look to simple....

Ok....RoadTrip finished ripping fine...came out perfect....i altered the settings as you suggested, switching to the new dll, and the resize method, and it still got that error....i looked at the *.avs files...there were many...and they are all 4k in size....so i dont know what the deal is....and other suggestions? is there any way to test a Vob file to see if it is NOT corrupt? kinda like a parity file or something?

Have you tried to play the .vob file in a software DVD player like WinDVD? I would assume that if it plays in there then the file isnt corrupt.

Nyc0n
30th May 2002, 03:24
are you sure they are supposed to play in a dvd player?

Jason28
30th May 2002, 03:26
Yes I play mine in there all the time to make sure that I ripped the right thing. It should play in any software DVD player like WinDVD and PowerDVD.
