Hi all out there,

wonder if anyone can help with a little problem while using dvd2svcd.

first let me say that im using 9b2 on all systems with the same settings.

what i ve done is a conversation of dvd, one with cce and one with tmpeg 2.54, cause i want to get rid of cce crashes which i do not understand any longer and therefore want to make a comparison between these both encoders.

ok following procedure and result:
machine 1 with cce: cce crash
machine 1 with tmpeg: worked, but with somewhat wired output (see below)
machine 2 with cce: wokred, quality ok
machine 2 with tmpeg: wokred, but with somewhat wired output (see below)

as mentioned earlier, all other settings remained the same, the only thing i did was to change the encoder...

furthermore i tried several settings to bring tmpeg to the point of releasing a better quality (2p vbr/cq/...) but nothing worked as expected...

so what about the wired output? ok, well, ihmo it looks like a interlaced/deinterlaced problem but not on a line level but on a block level (sorry for the somewhat lousy description). Lets say the output video looks like (when ther is some motion in the picture) like splitted into, let s say about 30 (big)lines which are shifted against each other.

??? any ideas ???

oh i forgot, some days ago there was a threat about a similar behaviour when using the wron aspec-ratio setting (especially on anamorphic videos)...well to be short, i ve tried them all with tmpeg and cce...cce doesn t seemed to be impressed and released always a good quality on the one machine and so did tmpeg, but with the bad quality output...

damm it i m too stupid to bring my machines to work properly ;-(...

I have heard that if you use the one pass method instead of the multipass it will fix some crashes with CCE. If you would like to try the settings listed on this thread then you might be able to do a very good encode in a lot less time and with out CCE crashing: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=13435&highlight=better+encode.

well, just to complete the threat, finally i solved the little tmpeg issue (sorry, still no solution for cce s behaviour...). as mentioned earlier i assumed that results looked like a interlace/deinterlace problem...well to be short it was...got the final clue from an article reference on the mainpage of doom9...excelent article about interlacing probs and at this point tnx for the webresaerch to doom9 ;-).
btw, ihmo it s a good idea to use the temporal smoother in conjunction with tmpeg.
