View Full Version : CEE & IFO Edit problems using maestro.(Long)

Well I first thought I would be writing to say that thanks to the guide and Jdobbs IFOUpdate I have a working DVD but this is not the case.

I’ll explain in full what I did so that hopefully someone can help me get this working.

The Film is SPY GAME (PAL)

I ripped the film to HDD, it’s was about 8gig some thing.
Run the DVD2AVI to get my D2v file and AC3 file for the main movie (VTS_05_x)
Run the D2V file through CCE using Avisynth. End up with a 2.5ish gig M2V file.
Imported the M2V file & the AC3 File into Maestro. The AC3 produced by DVD2AVI had an 80ms delay on it. Removed this delay with delay corrector. Sound with still not in sync. I moved the sound forward on the time line 1 second; video & sound were then in sync.
I then imported the chapter list from chapter xtractor. Then compiled the project.
I was then left with Video_ts folder containing 2.5 gig worth of files, VTS_01_0-3.
When I added the maestro files and the original files minus the main movie, it ended up being to big to fit on a disc(5Gig). So I decided to take out some extras.
This is how the original disc looks like (not complete as I am at work now so doing this from memory)

VTS_01_0 153k
VTS_01_1 Menus and chapters
VTS_02_0 100k ish
VTS_02_1 Blue Warning
VTS_03_0 100k ish
VTS_03_1 Entertainment video logo
VTS_04_0 100k ish
VTS_04_1 Trailer for the movie
VTS_05_0-6 Main Movie
VTS_06_0 100k ish
VTS_06_1 Extra (production stuff)
VTS_07_0 100k ish
VTS_07_1 Extra (production stuff)
VTS_08_0 100k ish
VTS_08_1 Extra (production stuff)
VTS_09_0 100k ish
VTS_09_1 Extra (production stuff)
This goes on upto VTS_25_01.

As I need to shrink the size I moved VTS_02_01, VTS_03_01, VTS_19_01 & VTS_21_01out of the VIDEO_TS folder. I then opened up Power dvd to see if everything still worked. I loaded the original VIDEO_TS.ifo. This went straight to the menu and all seemed to work fine. I went to some chapter selection and this worked. I then went to see what would happen if I went to the deleted extras. I clicked on the trailer button and it just stayed on the menu (which would say it worked, as it didn’t crash the DVD). I did the same for the other deleted extras; all seemed to work fine.

I then removed the original movie vobs (VTS_05_x) and replaced them with the maestro generated ones . As the menu is in VTS_01_01 I renamed the generated main movie vobs to be the same as the originals (VTS_05_01-3).

I then ran IFOUpdate to correct the original Ifo with the information from the maestro generated IFO. All worked ok. I then opened up IFOEdit and ran the GetVTS, ouit out of IFOEdit and tested the dvd again using Power DVD. It went straight to the move, using the select chapter’s menus it went straight to the correct part in the film. I also checked the deleted extras.

So at this point 1:30 in the morning I was a very happy bunny.
I then loaded up Prassi Primo DVD, added my VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS folders and went to burn. I then got an error message saying job terminated. I checked what it said in the log and it said the VIDEO_TS or AUDIO_TS is not DVD format.

So how do I get this thing on to a disc? Just ‘cause PowerDVD plays it ok it doesn’t mean it’s right?

Is there anything obvious that I haven’t done? Could just deleting the _01 extras vobs be causing the problem?

Also the original movie vobs have the directors commentary on it. I did not put this on the maestro created one, will this cause a problem.

I hope I have explained myself ok and that someone can help. I need to workout how to do this, as I don’t get to spend much time on the PC (other half & 2 kids).

Thanks in advance
D

Hi,

let IfoEdit create an image and burn that with Nero or any other accepting big images (>4GIG).

Don't touch the AC3 in future, Maestro corrects the audio delay by using the internal timecodes.

Make a DVD image file in IFOEDIT first, then use Prassi to burn from the image file.

I've never made an image using IFOEdit. Is it just a case of loading the Video_ts.ifo?

Also the time codes wern't right. I didn't correct the delay first of all and the sound was more advanced than the video, so I took out the delay and the problem was just the same. I even used create audio sync with both files and both were still wrong. So I decied to move the audio on 1 second my self and all was fine.

Still can get preview working (even with the files put into system & system32 folders), it just crashes maestro. So I have to compile every time before I can see if all is ok. Now thats a PITA!

Thx for your help.

So it doesn't sound like I've done anything wrong?

Well I have tried to play the DVD using INFOEdit and I get the following message. Cannot open file. A file on the DVD disc could not be opened. Playback may not continue.

When I try to create an image using IFOEdit I get an error saying "can't locate imglib.dll"

Any ideas?

thx

Real Time Preview in Maestro works if you install the Cinemaster 2000 codecs. When you make an image in IFOEDIT, you must have a folder called VIDEO_TS on your hard drive with all the dvd files you want to burn contained within.

If you having problems playing back in IFOEDIT's player, first verify that your Direct X is working properly, then if that's ok, there is something wrong with the way it was authored in Maestro.

Have them installed but it still crashes.

Got that.

I think the problem is that I have deleted VTS_02-01, VTS_03_01 and it's looking for these files. I can't make a blank one using notepad as it doesn't work.

I have tried to strip the ID from the VTS_02.ifo but there is only one ID in there.

How can I remove these files and still get the DVD to play?

Some burn progs don't like it when you skip VTS files (you removed VTS_02, VTS_03, etc..). Try using Nero 5.5.8.0 or newer to burn the individual files (You don't need to make an image). Also, check the download page for the .dll needed by IFOEdit for creating an image.

However, your problem could be that the VTS files you removed are actually needed. Take your original RIP with all titles (VTS files) and play it using IFOEdit, when you exit the IFOEdit player it will tell you what titles were played. Then look in video_ts.ifo for the mapping that tells you what titles correspond to what VTS files.

BTW, I have Maestro preview working using Cinemaster 98 (not 2000) on my Win2K machine.

if I put the VTS_02_01(warning) & VTS_03_01 (Studio Logo) back into the VIDEO_TS folder then all runs fine in IFOEdit dvdplayer.

How can I make blank copies of these files that work?

Is it a case of stripping cell ID's?

Thanks
for your help I will look for the dll's
