CCE is crap. Checksum's are different for .avs's VFAPI .avi's, direct huffYUV(which is the MOST unstable). I know its a hella faster but I'm jsut about ready to go back to tmpeg mpg-2 encoding because the amount of time I spend crashing and restarting tmpeg would already have it completed for comparable quality....

Of course are checksums different for avs, vfapi-avi and huffyuv avi.
These are different files.
If you have permanent checksum errors (cce 2.50sp only) then apply the checksum patch (do a forum search for that).

CCE crashes only if you do wrong preparations before feeding into cce (f.e. no resample audio; btw no longer needed for avs into cce 2.66sp :) ).

CCE works very very stable if you do consider these things ... and more.

Now I use 2lame for mp2 encoding and I split up the audio track and resample and normalize in sound forge. And just for kicks I insert it into my avisynth script this way:
video=mpegsource(blah)
audio=wavsource(blah)
audiodub(video,audio)
and feed that into ccesp. BUT I uncheck audio and have it NOT process audio, but technically the audio going in is 44.1Khz, so I'm assuming that's nto the problem. I knwo the problem with huffYUV and not having an interlaved audio int here and I assumed it was for CCESP because it gave me better stablity.
But I'll do a seach for that patch and get it because thats the only thing that "crashes" my encoding.

I'm totally done redoing the DivX section in my new guide. and my SVCD guide is about 70% compelte I'm down to writing a page on CCESP and TMPEG encoding..then pulldown..then optional authoring and burnging. But those are the only pages I have left to write then I'll upload them all to my website and that will be that! Hopefully by Friday I can get them done, but DEFINETLY by the end of the weekend

Think you will have to wait for the final release of 2.66, as I think mb1 is keeping it to himself which is fair enough.

AVS --> Link2 --> CCE 2.62

The above is as fast as

AVS --> CCE 2.5

but more stable.

no I havn't I'll try it. Actually with that patch I haevn't crashed in 2.5 hours of movie time. So it seems pretty good. Unfortunatly right now windows XP is giving me shit about installing ii, something about a corrupt file..but as soon as I have like..an operating system installed on that sucker, I'll give it a try

Sounds to me as if you're having quite a few issues with your computer. Have you tried running memtest 86 torture test, or perhaps prime 95, both programs are good a detecting any possible issues with ram and/or cpu.
