dv video to mpeg? what software?

I need some software that transfers my un compressed video to divx or any other format.

what are some good software titles, hopefully free.

I havent been doing much with it, but it reasonable priced and the test version can do almost everything, it supports nice cutting features and can export the captured DV movies to AVI, using any compression codec you have installed. But with the right DV codec installed ( like from http://www.mainconcept.com ) even Vdub should be able to handle this for you, given you can handle the de-interlacing correctly.
