View Full Version : Mpg problem
Hi all.
Well i have to ask somone about Mpg that i tried to make an Vcd of, but the Mpg file is not valid, i ripped the audio and there is sound, but no picture, what kind of problem could this be? I have 3 parts. part 1 is ok, but part 2 and 3 does not work. I`m kind of new to encoding and ripping etc. Would appreciate an answer or 2 :D

You need to give more info to get help : what encoder did you use ? what settings ?
And it's normal you don't see a VCD Mpeg on your computer : Windows Media Player can't play VCD/SVCD video streams (as far as I know), so you have to download a software VCD player or burn it and test it directly on your DVD player.
Well i usually use POWER VCD as my player. But this time i didn`t work as usual, So i tried Windvd and even Windows media player. But nothing did work, so i though that i might have to burn it to a Cd first, i usually use Nero as my VCD burner and it works great, and it always check`s the file that im suposed to burn, and this time it did not approve my Mpg file. I dont know what it could be, but there is sound, so i guess that i miss a plugin or something,
I get the following text in Nero:
"The file is invalid. need MPEG-1 which was encoded for Video-CD.
Audio_ 44.1kHz: Stereo; 224kBit/s
Video: 352x240/29.97 Hz or 352z 240/23.976 Hz or 352x288/25 Hz.
The following problems were Found:
-Mpeg-2 instead of MPEG-1
-Invalid Video stream: 25 frames/second, 480x576 pixels."
I dont have a clue what this means. is there some one here who does?
Plz give me an answer.

Well, sounds like you encoded the video in SVCD format instead of VCD. Try to make a SuperVideoCD project in Nero instead of VideoCd and it will work.
You were right, it was a Svcd format, and i made a svcd copy with nero and now it works just fine :D
Thx again....
