poor video quality, need tips

Hi all,
sorry again for my poor english, but need some extra help.
Use DVD2SVCD, all default settings plus 2-pass VBR, Tmpeg 2.54.
All ripping process is fine, apparently works okay but when checking SVCD video sometimes is poor. by poor i mean some pixels are screwed, kinda like blocks or "tiles", especially with fast bits or action..running, car chasing or so.
Any suggestion welcome, cuz the rest of the movie looks okay.

Try using 4-pass VBR, I always have good results with it.

try the ideas in this link here http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=87576#post87576 i found following the settings in that link made tempgenc work good compared to default settings.

TMPenc was my preference because of some strange behavior of my Pioneer DVD. It is very good but almost always produces some "blockiness" in the SVCD, no matter what i did and what version i used.

Try Cinema Craft encoder 2.5 SP and it it works for you (your pc and your DVD), use it always.

@need4speed if you are going to use tmpgenc i would go with my link actually, if your going 2 use cce my settings are as follow

bbmpeg tab:

cd overlap is set to(5)
movie offset is at the default(2)

bitrate tab:

max 2530
min 755
min avg not checked
max avg 2230 so basically i leave most of it default, also i have cd size set to 800 since thats what i use at the moment.

encoder tab:

multipass vbr(5)
image quality priority (17)
anti noise filter (24)
field order i set depending on the movie most of the time tho its top field first. all other settings are default.

fameserver tab:

resize method: bicubic resize b (0.00) c (0.60)
sharpen is set at (0.40)
everything else is default.

audio tab:

toolame mode: stereo
audio bitrate:192 i normally leave it there sometimes for a short movie under 1 hour and 30 minutes i'll move the bitrate for the audio up to 224.
everything else is default.


maybe these settings will bring you the joy they have me, i know that its all in the eye of the beholder, and that 99% of my movies are only 2 disks long so only movies over 2 1/2 hours have 3 disks and with those settings i can't complain even if i only do 2 disks:)

At present time I'm trying CCE and will check what happens.
Same movie, almost default settings but 3 pass vbr.
