nycon i need 2 know a few things, here goes.
1. What version of dvd2svcd are you using?
2. what version of windows are you working with?
3. what movie did you do?
4. what programs might you have open when the process errors out?
if we can get some detailed info you might get the answer.

nyc0n: Listen bro, you gotta be nice or I will kick you out of here. Do as markrb tells you too or don't come back. We are NOT mind readers. We need all the info we can get to help you fast and efficient. If I see such a post again I will strike you. Be warned!
Besides, chainsaw didn't do anything else than mark did. He too wanted more info. So.... What does that tell you, hmmmm?
And how the hell do you think you know what info we need to know, huh! Don't be so lame!

paste the "dvd2svcd_log.txt" file to your post because it contains nearly all necessary data to see what went wrong or at least it will give us a hint on how to track down the problem(s).

i dont have the log.txt file anymore...i have sence uninstalled and reinstalled the program and started over from scratch to try and troubleshoot it further....

There could be 100 reasons that you got this error. Without a log we have no clues at all. It isn't as easy as trying to find a common problem, there just isn't one answer. An error at any point could cause other programs to error. That posts specifically tells you what we need to begin trouble shooting. The answer may or may not be there, but it is the only source of reliable info we have.
At this point the only way to even get an idea of what is happening is for you to do another encode and if you get the error post the log file. That file was created for the purpose of troubleshooting.
We cannot read minds or see what is happening. The best we can do is take as much information from you and make educated guesses. It's like writting a note to a mechanic and saying my car has this funny noise and not saying anything else. How do you expect him to know exactly what is causing it. There just isn't any way to even begin. That was the whole purpose of that thread. With it you could say it's coming from the engine and only when I turn on the AC. Now we can narrow it down.

Yeah like markrb has stated there could be so many reasons that i'm sure i would not even remember all of them that would or could be causing your error. and reading markrb's first post i can see he was only asking for the same thing i was which was more information thats all. Markrb and i want only 2 help people out were not here to be mean or not be helpful, i know for a fact markrb puts alot of time and tests for you and and others so instead of getting 2 mad at markrb i would thank him for the help he's givin this forum over the past half year.

why do you think is is making that second cd image too big and not splitting it into a 3rd cd? the bitrate tab is default...i did not touch and of the settings....

As far as I can see the CQ calculation varies a lot between the tests. I think you should try and raise the two test values to:
"Frames Pr Spread" -> 80
"Spread" -> 60
That should (hopefully) make a more precise calculation. Also set the Offset CQ value to 90.
The reason it makes a big third disk is because dvd2svcd thinks it should make 3 cd's when done, but if the CQ value is too high TMPGEnc will make a mpv file that is way too big for 3 images.

i will try that now....i assume that i have to start from the beginning with the rip....so 7 hours from now we will see....thanks for the help...
PS...what did that do exactly? up my quality?
