Is there a way to find the settings used in the compression of this trailer?

A method or anyone who works at divxnetworks and could tell us the settings used. :sly:

The trailer is very well encoded and what surprises me more is that it's using b-frames, so i'm surprised i can't see any macroblock in it. Although i'm decoding movies with the post-processing on level zero, i still don't enjoying the blur effect that this does to the movie.

I know it has been encoded with b-frames, because, i can play divx 5 movies without pro features, only with divx 4.12 decoder.

And what about GMC? 4.12 still decodes with this feature used?

Without having seen the trailer, it was very likely encoded from a high-quality error-free digital copy.. something you can't exactly say about the dvd-sources we usually use for ripping purposes.

Yes, it is 100% digital computer generated source (with many black title sequences & low motion scenes, which frees bitrate for the few action scenes of the trailer), that's why it looks so good.

I've done the test with StarTrek - Motion Picture.

And sincerely i don't see any improvements in QUALITY using all these features extra than b-frames and GMC. All i've got is a short filesize.:rolleyes:

TEST:

Neutral Resize with Gknot, 2-pass at 590 kbit/s
for 640*270 for 1 cd.

a) Crop/resize in avisynth and only with b-frames and GMC i got file of = 568 Mb

b) Crop/resize in the codec with the b-frames, GMC and plus: Q pel, PreProcessing set to "normal" and Psychovisuals enhancements set to "strong" = 545 Mb


It seems that this way of encoding could be good to make the shorter filesize possible. But in quality you couldn't see any improvement in quality, i thinks it could be a little worse than the traditional way.

I've to admit that this trailer got all this quality just because Gej encoded it from a master source. :p

By the way anyone here tested to make an encoding from a DVD SUPERBIT. I've seen the screenchots and the picture is really improved it these dvds. Maybe we could get an improved rip

Why on earth would he set preprocessing to normal? It's a digital source; it's not like there's any film grain that needs to be filtered out.

can it be that the warcraft trailer are encoded with divx 4???
all analyzer i tried to use say it is an divx 4 encoding :confused:

probably he just used an analyzer that came out before divx5?
