Why wont Vobedit start?

HI I was following Derrows guide on Vobedit. And I follow it to the word. I rename a bunch of vob's in the order he specifies and I also load up the first one. Then I press JOin Clips. I select 1 for Id and select a place to store it. And nothing happens. It just sits there. Im using XP and a supped up AMD pc. Should I run it in WIN2000 mode?

I've just recently had the same problem. It used to work before many times, but all the sudden nothing (vobedit v.4). I had a similar problem with the prior version but the feature option for m2v remux had actually disappeared, actually the drop menu options were all gone! When I installed the latest version the prob disapeared, until now. So, is this a verified fact that this probelms exists with WinXP?

Never mind the above question, I just went to Derrow's site and read the statement about WinXP. A question for Derrow, once he comes back from vacation... Will there be a XP fix down the line or should I start replacing my OS?

Today I tried it with a Win ME OS and had the same results, that is it didn't do anything! Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas anyone? I would appreciate the feedback/help. I'll try it out in Win2K shortly and post my results. Maybe something is wrong with our VOBs (grasping at straws...since its worked before?!?)

By the way:
I'm backing up the movie Rose Red (which has unusal title set structure).
WinXP
AMD XP1800+
512 DDR

Dude forget vobedit. Why do you need to use it again? just get all the vobs tilted in the correct order and tell Ifoedit to make new IFO files.

I did just that, but the vob id and cell id in each vob throw off the order they need to be played in when new ifos are created.

Wanted to confirm that I have had the same problem, I am running XP Pro. The description talks about it being able to split VOB files, but I cannot see any menu option to do that either - I get only one menu, Edit, with four options under it, join, remux, save VOB info and one more thing, can't remember. I use it now only to demux the video and/or audio streams out of a ripped VOB.

Any suggestions on any other good VOB tools?

why arent you guys using Smartripper or DVDdecryptor to demux it? They work fine. Use vonjoiner to join them together.

I did use smartripper to strip into chapters but the vob id and cell id that are imbedded in the vobs are not sequential order. When you create new ifos it doesn't play from the begining.
This is my situation. Movie: Rose Red
Has anybody had any luck sucessfully backing this up (Just the main movie)? It seems that when you rip it, it you end with a partial backup because it writes the vts_01_4.vob twice (the movie starts there, goes through vts_01_8 then continues to vts_01_1 then finishes back at vts_01_4, erasing the begining of the movie). I then ripped it again into chapters and got the whole movie. I used powerDVD and played all media files in order successfully. But when I created new ifos or used the Ifoedit created it won't start in the begining. I then tried using VOBedit and used the Join Clips function as instructed but VOBedit did nothing. It asked where to save and new vob id but it would not process. I attempted this in both WinXP and Win ME OS's with no result. Any suggestion appreciated.

I get the same thing with Vobedit myself. It doesnt do anything. Looks like it was made improperly by the looks of it or in a weird way.

Derrow, hi, don't mean to beat this old thread up, but I've been waiting for a response from you. Since I know you've been on vacation I didn't expect a response for awhile. But now this is getting lost in back and you may not see it. Hopefully your back from vacation. Your site hasn't been updated so it still says you'll be back in 2 weeks from 05.27.02 and I've looked to see if you're logged on but haven't seen you around. Anyways, just hoping you will have a chance to look at this if it is on the 1st page again. And again, thanks very much hard work.

Had same problem with rosered. Finally got the vobs all in order with dvd2svcd rip. Smartripper incorrectly ripped it as stated in other posts. However audio is out of synch now. Then considering the 5-6 cdrs to back it up. Screw rose red. If I do decide i need it again I will buy it when it goes on sale.

I've got a copy of XP now.
All I need is to install it to one of my machines, then I'll try to compile IfoEdit/VobEdit under XP.
It might work better so.
