Producing a VOB with an m2v and ac3

I have used smartripper to stream a DVD into an m2v (3.94gb) and an ac3 (369mb) file. Can IFOedit or any other free program convert these back to VOB format without re-codeing the whole lot and therefore losing quality (not to mention time)?

I should then be able to use IFOedits Create IFO tool to produce the neccecary files right?

You need to get authoring s'ware.....to take m2v & ac3 to make new VOB title set.

Sonic.com has stuff like that & demos I believe....also spruce demo does it as well with ac3 5.1.

Would Ulead dvd movie factory allow you to encode the audio and video together again?

Not with AC3.

Niether will Ulead DVD Workshop. When dealing with ac3,
there are only a few choices available, Sonic Scenarist and
Maestro top the list.

DVDit PE will also handle AC3, and there is another software (haven't tried myself) by Pinnacle (their higher end version is retailing for about $500.00) claims to do that too. I have migrated to the mac for authoring (using DVD Studio Pro - about $1,000.00 retail) and that is a very easy and full featured program to use (allows motion menus, imports JPG files for still menus and buttons, has a companion software for subtitle creation/editing - even though it is not very stable, it is "free" -, scripting, multiple audio tracks, the whole works - it is well worth the money if you are really into DVD authoring at a lot less money than buying Scenarist or Maestro (some of the "demo" versions out there are not very reliable, not to mention the pain to learn how to use them)

I know movie factory only uses mpeg audio. Could you transcode an ac3 to mpeg and then use Movie factory? And if so would you be likley to maintain audio aync?
I already own Movie Factory and cant sem to fine a link to Maestro other than the Spruce tech page.

Can anyone verifiy that the DMR-E20 does NOT record in AC-3. all the specs I can find say NO. I have had one for 15 months now and ripped many VOB's from disks it made, but now I want to put a few differant ones together with a menu and don't know why the burn program in ULead movie factory 2 gives me the error. I ran out of time and disk space last night to test this . Somewhere in the past week I think I saw a post that said just ignore it before I boutht the program but now I cant find the post.
Tonight I have to put in a bigger drive cause I can't figure out how to get it to render to D where there is plenty of room.

Then hook up sound to it. I was just using it to dub before.

All comments are welcome. I am stuck at work for another 6 hours "plenty of time to worry about this" remaining.

Tmpeg DvDAuthor accepts ac3 and mp2 files. The demo should work for you, if all you want is a quick vob.

TMPEG can simple demux a VOB to m2v & ac3 so why not use it again to simple mux them back to a VOB

Open Ifoedit / menu / authorDVD and enter the file names. You lose your chapters though unless you can enter them in a Celltimes.txt file.
Question is why rip seperate streams in the first place if you only want to put them back together again?

Most DVD recorders including E20 record audio in AC-3.
Some recorders can record audio in PCM.
