View Full Version : No Aspi and Locked VOB problems with Smartripper
When I start up PAL DVD Charlies Angels to be ripped I receive 1 error message.
1 IFO is readable, VOB is locked
What to do now?
I am trying to open the movie with a player but am not successful until now.

Open the movie with a dvd player such as windvd or powerdvd and let it play until it gets into the movie proper (a minute or so past the intro screens). then shut down the player and open smartripper and see if you can access the vobs now.

Try installing ASPI.
If you already have, switch to a decent ripper....mine for instance ;-)

I'm just wondering, and this is in no way a "you think you are all that?", what makes DVD Decrypter better than SmartRipper (again, no flame of any kind, I just wonder :)
I tested SmartRipper, and it worked great, so I'm wondering why one should change to ie DVD Decrypter.
Thanks :)

Geez...where do I start! ;-)
Its faster, more stable and properly implemented!
I dont mean to put SmartRipper down (ok, well actually I do!)....but some of Trons coding leaves a lot to be desired.
Check out the ripper comparison Doom9 put together. Notice he only asked of one thing from me...IFO parsing. Now look at what he said about smartripper.
My program had pretty much all of the functionality of SmartRipper EVEN without IFO Parsing. Now it has that too, it is the clear winner.
And thats not just me talking...Ive have been complemented on the new version by loads of people...even those that thought SmartRipper rocked! Ive seen many people move over to DVD Decrypter over the past few months...the most recent release is sure to win over many of the remaining stragglers!
I have put an awful lot of time into this program, and have gone by what YOU (in the general sense) lot asked for.

Alright. Thanks for the answer :)
I'll try it out right away!
TXs,
All worked great and I am enjoying my rip at the moment...
