It works fine under XP here. Do you have suitable filters installed, like the ones from PowerDVD or WinDVD? The play function in IfoEdit will not work without some sort of decoders present on your system.

I got the same problem, and found Netmeeting running in the background causing the problem. Closing Netmeeting resolved the problem.
I also ran dxdiag.exe and found that Directdraw and direct3d where disabled or reporting problems when netmeeting was loaded. Closing netmeeting again resulted in directdraw/3d working oke and enabled, while also Ifo edit DVD play worked again.
It may help you as well.
Install DivX. I read somewhere that you need it with IFOEDIT dvd player.

IFO Edit Preview doesn't neccessarily require the DiVx codecs. I have a working XP setup without them currently. I believe it uses the PowerDVD decoder that is installed with the player (PowerDVDxp). I uninstalled PowerDVD the other day, and installed the CinemaCraft decoders (in an effort to get real time preview in Maestro), and the IFOEdit preview stopped working - so I think this is a good indication.
Good luck!
