I am trying to find out a way to for TMPGEnc to recover from errors in either the audio or video during encoding. It's just my luck that several hours into an encoding, I receive an error message from TMPGEnc saying there's an error in the video with no way to continue.

Does all audio/video loaded into TMPGEnc need to be 100% error-free for the encoding to finish? If so, is there a free utility which will detect and fix errors in an mpeg2 file? Better yet, it would be great if TMPGEnc can actually fix/recover from error during an encoding.

Thanks,
Michael

I've never encountered this problem myself, but you might try running the source through avisynth to get a raw AVI to encode. If avisynth can handle the file, it should prevent TMPGEnc from seeing any errors, although if those errors cause artifacting or other visual problems, those will still be in the final product.
