As header... I'm trying to rip my Buffy DVDs and put 2 episodes on each DVD-R rather than the 4 on the DVD-9s. Don't want the menus from the original cos then there will be details from the 2 "missing episodes"...
Some advice?
I did consider joining all the VOBs and then using XMuxer to convert the VOBs into MPEG2 files and then Womble MPEG2VCR to go back to separate episodes but it doesn't seem happy with AC-3 soundtracks.
Surely I'm being dense and there IS an easy way with ifoEdit? ;-)

Hi,
One possibility might be to use vob edit to demux the vobs to cell vobs, then use join cell vob to selectively reconstruct them, assuming the cells split at 'sensible' points (which they should do..) ie something like:
VTS_01_1.VOB..VTS_01_X.VOB
goes to
VTS_01_001.VOB..VTS_01_0xx.VOB
maybe use vobrator or even flaskmpeg for quick preview of what each cell vob file contains, then rejoin only certain chunks of the cell vob files to make two new VTS sets. You'll then have to get Ifoedit to make some new ifo's for the new VTS sets. menus will be lost with this method!

Those tools are not needed any more. In IfoEdit 0.91, Derrow has included the preview feature. Open a movie IFO, then double click on the cell that you want to view...super cool and a lot more stable than Vobrator :)

Maybe the question should be... how can I author menus for existing VOB files?

Why? I couldnt see anything on the Roxio site to indicate that it would author menus for existing VOB files. If I want to author for MPEG files then there are plenty of other choices
