Does the adware removal method work with 5.0.2 Pro?

Dunno. But for 5.0,5.0.1 and 5.0.2 this method works.

Do the install while not connected to the internet.

Press Ctrl+Alt+del, select Trickler and click End Task.

Go to the DivX Pro Codec directory and rename Gain_Trickler_3202.exe
to Gain_Trickler_3202.ex! or simply delete it.
Alternatively, run msconfig (WIN98 or Me - not sure about XP), go to the Startup tab and uncheck Trickler so it doesn't go resident when the WIN GUI loads.

Did you try renaming the EXE to Ex!?

I'm using 5.0.2 and no probs like that (note that I also have firewall software which blocked its initial attempts to contact the internet)

No, I deactivated in msconfig both trickler and cmesys, after restarting they don't load in the memory anymore.
But sometime later, surprise: popup with GAIN title.
But I must say, those popus aren't annoying, they come rarely.

Hmmm... Can't find cmesys*.* on my PC.

Haven't ever seen the GAIN popup. Maybe something to do with my firewall s/w??
