I'm really interested in the new mode 2 burning tool to allow 800 meg of data on a 700 meg cd, but form what I have read so far its pretty much a case of burning the data to the cd, and thenforever having to play the movie directly from the cd itself...

What I always prefer to do is copy the file off the cd first, then play it back from the Hard Drive (as my cd drive has a tendency to sometimes lock up in the middle of a movie if i watch directly from the cd)

With this new mode-2 method, will it be possible to copy the file off the cd and play it from the hard drive?

yes, but not as easy and immediate as popping the disk in and pushing play

there's no problem copying the file to the hd as a 'normal' file again.

you can either use the dat2file application that comes with the mode2cdmaker tool, or use xcd2file (still not available) when xcd is officially available.

cheers
