View Full Version : possible bug with cvd subtitles
hi i just want to say what i found.
at least with dvd2svcd v1.0.9 build 1 and 2 i dont know what changed the author but cvd subs with vcdxbuild work on my dvdplayer!
but, alyaws a but, sometimes the first subtitle appears and the others seem to be corrupt, a grey box appears in the screen. if a fast forward the disc, and jump the FIRST subtitle, everything works fine. this happened to my with 3 conversions i tested, and i dont know if this workaround is correct but it seems to be.
anyone had this experience???
i have an apex ad-500w dvd player.
i think that MAYBE there is some bad configuration on the first subtitle that fucks up the next ones, and when you skip it, the nextones shows just fine.
please help, comments!?

Hi mato,
in these versions the default submuxer was changed from "submux" to "WinSubMux" which usually cures some old "submux" problems - but if it does not work properly with your standalone you can go back to the old "submux" by selecting the "submux.exe" from the "SubMux" directory instead of "WinSubMux" in "Subtitles" tab.

I have been able to see CVDs of the test sample of vcdhelp, but not been able to produce and see any removable sub, before WinSubMux.
With WSM new 0.2.0.1 (currently .2 available) I am able to see CVD and also SVCD. My player: Saivod 17T, a clone sold in Spain of unknown brand ...
(note: I also notice that sometimes the initial subs are skipped by the player but are in the stream!)
So:
Thanks to DVD2SVCD for all!
Thanks to New_Age for WinSubMux!
Thanks to Doom9!
and may thanks for all posters and moderators ...
special thanks to DDogg, I´ve read many of his contributions!
BTW, for DVD2SVCD (himself), somebody requested in the past a feature to be able to include SVCD *and* CVD streams in the muxing. WinSubMux supports it ... but DVD2SVCD should support it. Would be fantastic to have it.
Note:
I am trying to setup a sistematic attack to the removable subs problem. Further ideas in the subtitles forum

And Just For What Matters,
what about
"@DVD2SVCD (Fiddler of DVD2sVCD):
somebody requested in the past a feature to be able to include SVCD *and* CVD streams in the muxing. WinSubMux supports it ... but DVD2SVCD should support it. Would be fantastic to have it."
