View Full Version : DivX 5 codec problems

I have recently installed the DivX 5.02 bundle with advertising and my coding has gone crazy. I am fairly new at this so I do not know what to look for.

I used DivX 3.11, 4.11, and 4.12 and have never seen this. The coded movie (in this case, Star Wars Phantom Menace) comes out looking blocky and watery. The entire screen is composed of tiny blocks and the images are not crisp at all but rather the consistency of water.

I have tried uninstalling the 5.02 codec and going backwards, but now they all do the same.

Can anyone tell me what I did wrong or what has gone wrong?

While we're waiting for Acaila to approve the jpg, would you be kind enough to let us know what encoding tool you used (e.g: GKnot, Vdub) and what codec settings you used (eg: 2-pass, bitrate, b-frames, Q-pel).

It could help.

Yes, I have tried it with two different "all in one" types, both
of which worked great until 5.02. Xmpeg 4.2 (tried 4.5 but won't open ifo files) and flaskmpeg newest version with the subtitle fix.

Like I said, I have used both of these to do several movies and it always came out great but now there are these little blocks and it is watery.

I note that the jpg has a resolution of 361x222. What codec settings are you using?

I am using 704x304 which is more or less full frame, no reduction. That was a screen shot and only a part of it. I didn't crop it like that

What codec settings are you using?

i think this is not DivX 5.02 bug because i have all my job maked whith them is perfect.

Problem solved. It was a filter that I was testing for directshow. I unistalled it and things went back to normal. I am glad it was not something with the codec since they have been great always.
