This is always happening for the first cue file. The second one burns fine.
I have unticked "eject after burn". This cd writer light keeps flashing like its still writing. I cannot stop it or eject it. Always have to turn off the computer. I look at the disk and its still blank. I am using a 80min/rw - sick of getting coasters with cdr's.
Could this be some sort of scsi error and if so can someone please help

I had some similiar problems.
They occured when i was trying to add an new scsi-HD. The system was wery unstable, and the "message" you are refering to looks very the same. I cound't even burn at 1X somtimes, other times i was lucky to burn at 8X the first CD an then next i was refused. (I use a plextor scsi with 12x).
I have a Tekram DC-395U-scsi controller card.

Try to remove on or the latest added item from your scsi-card.

CDRAO works with ASPI driver to control ATAPI devices.
Win XP and Co. don't have any ASPI drivers (security reasons).

Download ForceAspi 1.7 from Doom9's site.
That works.
