at first i must say i try this the first time because I always use ac3 but now i have a movie wich is to long for 2 cdīs and ac3 and mp3 sounds bad
i tried to encode with ogg machine with the instructions from doom9 but on several positions the sound is jerky and click
when I tried to mux the sound with the video I saw on this positions that also the video became jerky
my system:
athlon 1.1 ghz
256 mb ram
sb live 5.1 (use digital output over coaxial spdif)
win xp pro
I use the latest besweet version
HeadAC3he v0.23 doesnīt work because i always get an error ("unknown software exception")
what can I do?
sorry for the poor english :o)

I must say that i tried to extract the ac3 stream with 3 different rippers...smartripper, vtrip and dvddecrypter...but no chance...the result after encoding is jerky...every time at the same positions...
I made 6 or 7 encodings
and: I got headac3he to work...I did a 6 channel encoding...but here the same jerky output
and: besweet...jerky output
the original ac3 file sounds well...but the output is always jerky at the same positions...I also tried it with different players...but no chance
I donīt know what to do :o(

could be a bug of azid, follow the guides and try to encode with vob2audio/graphedit.

something more:
I found out that encoding in the lowest bitrate doesnīt result in so much pops and jerky playback...but itīs not solved the problem

I did it like a guide from doom9 said...but instead of mp3 filter I used the vorbis encoder...but I donīt know how to set up (I know how choosing fileter properties)... I mean how can I set it up to get a file with a bitrate of 160 kbps)

but after 1 minute working graphedit writes a file with more than 50 mb and there is about 1 hour remaining...so it will result in an realy large file...whats going wrong?
do I have to set min., avg. and max. birtate...at the moment it is all at -1 (and quality factor at 5)

I tried it out but donīt get acceptable results...I get a 1,17 gb file and donīt listen anything - just silence (I also canīt use the slider mediaplayer 6.4)
I donīt know whats wrong :o(

@DSPguru
i tried to encode an other movie with ahedac3he and I get the same bad results
I think there is something going wrong with the progs or the filters or what do you think?
MaTTeR
27th May 2002, 01:38
If your ending up with 1.17GB file then something is terribly wrong. This sounds more like a WAV filesize then MP3 or Vorbis.
I would suggest deleting the apps (BeSweet, AAC Machine, BeSplit, OggMachine, HeadAC3he or whatever else) and then trying a clean install again. For HeadAc3he you need to make sure you download the right set of DLL files according to what CPU your using (ie.Athlon XP uses SSE DLLs). I think for BeSweet you just do the install and carefully select the right boxes in the GUI per the guides on this site.

thanks matter for your comment :o)
I just get this large file with graphedit
with besweet, oggmachine or headac3he I get the right files size but it sounds bad
and: yes I know about the dllīs of headac3he...I have an athlon 1.1 ghz and use the mmx dllīs
I have also reinstalled some progs like headac3he...but what the hell can I do wrong?
can it be the problem of the playback and so the problem of the directshow filters?
MaTTeR

More likely the issue is playback then. Are you using WaveOut or DirectSound? Have you tried WO or DS inside of WinAmp to see how it sounds?
Also make sure you have no equalizer effects being used in the player like WinAmp or PowerDivx allows.

YES YES YES you are right...thats the matter!!!
If I choose "Direct Sound: SB Live! Wave Device" or "Default DirectSound Device" in bsplayer it sounds GOOD :o)
just with "SB Live! Wave Device" or "Default WaveOut Device" its jerky and sounds bad
But how can I teach the mediaplayer (I always use him for testing purposes) to use direct sound?...in my system settings I only can choose between "SB Live! Wave Device" and "Playback through TotalRecorder"
Oh thats so great that it works...because I donīt like mp3 when I hear what ogg vorbis can do :o)
a BIG THANK at all for your help!!!

Glad to hear the culprit has been found:D
AFAIK WiMP is not flexible enough to allow you to change audio devices. This is the biggest reason why I don't use it. There are way too many other nice players exisiting to use that will allow you to switch audio devices.
Yeh Vorbis is certainly quite good compared to MP3;) Have fun.
