YV12 mode in 5.02 filter gives grainy output?

When I enable the YUV Extended Mode in DivX 5.02 decoder filter, the image becomes very grainy, almost like I'm watching TV with bad reception. Does anyone have some idea why this happens?

What are you trying to say? What does YV12 color mode have to do with software/hardware overlay?

I said I turned on "YUV Extended" mode, not "Film effect".

Everything is disabled except "YUV Extended". When it is disabled, the picture looks normal. When it is enabled, it gets very grainy.

Most video card has limited or bad support for YV12. Not because it has less resolution for the colors or being a planar format, but because during the ages YUY2 became the standard for video playback (to my opinion).

I don't notice any problem whatsoever with my GeForce2 GTS, which is quite an old GFX card by now!

Old for who? I think gf2, and those other brands which came out at that time, are the current average gfx card.
