I recently ripped the movie "The Others". Everything went good but when i went to burn it, the second file was approximitly 5min too long to fit on the 80min CDR. Is there anyway I can just make NERO burn it anyway, just cut of the end of the credits or something? Cause I dont really know how to cut the size down thro DVD2SVCD. I just used the default bitrate. I've tired reading the guides but no luck in figuring it out so I was just hoping i could cut the end of the movie off right there, since having 5-10 min of credits on a 3rd disc would be pointless.

Well you could try a couple of things.

Turn on overburning in nero and see if your drive supports this OR you could us the mpeg tools in tmpg and cut the credits off and see if it is small enough now.

There are guides for both of these methods.

Thx MAc. It worked successfully when i used TMPG to cut the credits off. But i still dont understand why that happened in the first place. The defaults on DVD2SVCD were never changed by me, so it should've known it would have needed 3 discs wouldnt it?? I still havent been able to successfully extarct the chapters either. Do I need to add a certain file when burning it onto the CD?, Or just add menu thro NERO? I'm going to try messing around with it, but if someone knew what i was doing wrong and corrected me, It would go much faster. I've read the guides several times, but I think it may be my DVD player acting up on me.. it is kinda old, but still plays SVCD's fine, just not the chapters, which most likely means it's me.

ps. If someone would be nice enough to give me their aim, that would be helpful, then when ever i needed a quick question answered, i could just send ya an IM. thx

With the older versions of dvd2svcd I would have to go to the bitrate tab and set the cd capacity to 735 for 740mb cds and 795 for 800mb cds to stay within the specified length. It seemed I was always going over by 3 or 4 meg and couldn't burn it (my cdrw doesn't support overburning). But with the great new dvd2svcd I have done 4 encodes and haven't had that problem yet. All were either right on or 1 meg smaller. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Can't help you much with menus. Haven't used them much. Search the vcd/svcd forums and I'm sure you will find something.

Good Luck
